Special Fields of Emphasis

Abuse Survivors – as a result of my training with Penny Simpkin (renowned childbirth educator, doula, writer, and speaker on childbirth and labor physiology) at her “When Survivors Give Birth” conference, I came away with a strong burden and desire to support women who fall into this category.  The challenges they face are very real and intense and their situations require empathetic support and compassion from the professional specially trained and equipped to meet this unfortunate, but ever growing need.

Herbal Layman – through personal and professional research over my twenty-five plus years of both parenting and birth work I have attained a comfortable working knowledge of herbal remedies and support for the childbearing woman.  Although I am not a professional herbalist, nor do I offer medical advice, I have completed an extensive amount studying and have also undergone training, and I am happy to offer suggestions for you to consult with your health practitioner about.

Mom of Many – as the biological mom of 13 breastfed, home and hospital birthed children who have all been, or are currently being home educated, I understand the unique challenges facing the mom of a large family.  I am happy to offer assistance to the Mom of Many who is looking for the sensitive and thoughtful support necessary to continue the indispensable work you do for your family.

NICU Support – since our newborn son, Benjamin, experienced a life threatening medical crisis that resulted in a total of six weeks in three different NICU facilities, I am poised to offer an understanding support system to the family experiencing, or anticipating, a NICU stay for their newborn.  The burden such a situation brings about is overwhelming, to say the least, and I welcome the opportunity to walk with your family through these challenging times and offer my assistance as you navigate the medical, emotional, and practical needs that will arise.

Kind Words

Something we especially appreciated was the thinking ahead attitude she had during the birth…freeing me up to simply labor!
I hardly had to ask for anything, and it was already there for me to use
(this includes rewarming those glorious heating pads that help SO very much with back labor).
